Well I sorta called this one back in Sept. I said a 5spd '05 would be a 12sec car with nothing more than a tune.

Well it took gears, pulleys, intake, and tune to get a 12.43@107. If the 3-4 shift didn't bog the motor so bad, you wouldn't even need the gears to bust into the 12s.

 

I posted this because so many people have dissed the '05's,I just wanted some to see what its capable of once that stupid computer tune is overcome.Even mach 1 guys say its a 14 sec car only.No,its not a LS-1 killer,but give it some respect.I was at the track 2 weeks ago and a auto '04 GTO could not get out of the 15's.That car is much faster than that,but has a really bad torque control tune killing it also.

 

I rather like the '05 Mustang. It isn't what I want, but it is much better looking than the previous generation of Mustang.

Making it go faster wouldn't make me like it more though, and I don't think it would make anybody who hates it like it more either. A stock Mustang GT already goes 0-60 faster than any of our stock Z28s or SSes, why would making it go even faster make a difference?

 

Even if you're an absolute die hard Chevy guy, you gotta like the Mustang. Amercan made V8 rwd performance! Its on our team, against all those japanese cars. I am certainly impressed with Mustangs performace potential, especially considering its affordable price.

 

I don't "diss" the new 'Stang b/c of it's peformance. I "diss" it because I hate the way it looks. I think it's bland and has a cheap interior. And I'm not a biased Chevy driver. I'm trying to buy a 2001 GT right now. I think most people on this board would agree that the new 'Stang is impressive. It's mostly that people think they are ugly.

 

As always looks are subjective. I'd make it my first Ford right now just because I really like the way it looks!

I don't think anyone "dissed" a modded '05 Mustang and its associated ET's....they were talking about stock ones.

BTW, 4.30 gears are pretty steep in my opinion. What kind of RPM would that thing be doing in 5th gear on the interstate? Ford needs to get with the program and put a frickin 6 speed in the GT already

I agree, that the basic all black plastic interior in the 05 Stang is absolutely horrible after I saw it in person at the LA autoshow, but its amazing how much better it looks when its upgraded with the silver dash with chrome bezels and leather seats.

The new v6 or GT Stang just dont do it for me in stock form but some of the SEMA modded ones I've seen look pretty good after you dump another $3000-$5000 in exterior mods and wheels.

 

The problem is the GT didn't go far enough for performance so they are not making V8 American cars look that great. The GT has always been like that. Just think how bad we would have looked if all we had in the 90's was a 215 hp GT and no F-body.

Congrats on the times, still cant stand the car. It being slow from the factory just me made love the car even more.

 

With stock rear tires, 4.30 gears would get you 2130 rpm @ 60 mph and 2480 rpm @ 70 mph.

I have a T56 in my 04 Cobra. It is the clunkiest shifting transmission I have ever had - right up there with the TKO. I would prefer to see Ford stick with the 3650, but give the Mach 1's higher .62 5th gear.

 

That is some serious good times for those mods.
It responds better than I would have guessed.
