I was a big fan of mid/late 90s Nissans and a big opponent of their new models. Altima, Japan? The 02+ Altima (the one where they started having bunches of quality issues) was designed and engineered completely in California, built in Mississippi, and made of almost north american sourced parts. The new Altima, bash it all you want, is far more American than it is Japanese in the least... oh, except the name on the badge.

But many of you same guys will turn around and call a Saab a valid domestic vehicle because GM owns them, despite the engineering, design, and production of most of them still being in Europe.

I lost faith because there's no way the Camaro was the #2 most reliable "sporty car" made for a 3 year period.

Of course, this does not represent the entire universe of F-bodies either. This is just to illustrate that for every anecdote, there is an equal and opposite anecdote.

As far as the JD Power survey is concerned, I think the relevance of the results is directly proportional to their impact on your current car preference . . . at least in some people's eyes.

The reason all the people on this board have problems is that their cars are 10 years old, with 100k miles, with mods, and they beat them senseless.

I've put 30k(from 41k to 72k) on my car in 2 years and the only problem I've had has been the warped rotors(my fault), blown Monsoon speakers, and the crankshaft position sensor. I've never been stranded and will have to say that my car has had fewer problems than my mom's 2000 Avalon in the past couple of years.

In over 4 years (but admittedly only 17k miles), my Z28 has received one PS pump, one water pump, 2 A/C re-charges and uh, uhm, uh......

Likely the A/C wouldn't have been in such rough shape if I used it more often to keep all the seals tight. I'm happy. Quite happy, actually...
