I'm kinda the opposite. I've seen quite a few GTO's on the road, and thats why I think they're design-ugly. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it didn't look so damn much like a Grand Am/Prix.
Here is a new car, which has a history, and a nostalgic history which appeals to car enthusiasts, and the year they come out with it, it has the same basic design as its sister cars. If they had come out with a new (GTO) style, and then let the Grand Am/Prix copy the style a year or two later, I wouldn't have ANY problem with it, but they did the opposite. They gave it a style that was already in existence! for years!
How would you feel if Chevy came out with a Camaro in the future that looks like a current/past coupe Impala/Monte Carlo? That's an actual fear I have anytime I read people here get all excited and hopeful about a 5th gen.

Besides needing the recessed grill they should have changed the tailights(less Civic-ish) and perhaps make the car a bit larger(Bonneville size),never did like how the new GTO is Cavalier-ish in its' size/look.Here are more pics and info on the '05...http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2005-Pontiac-GTO.htm

Now it's not just a "Grand Prix" but it's a "riced up" Grand Prix?

What makes it "riced up"?

Because it's wearing hood scoops, just like his "riced up" Formula in the sig.

Civic-ish taillights? Cavalier-ish size? Oh my gosh, it's got ford model t-ish steering wheel! It's round!

Take a look at the GTO next time you see one in person. Its size is anything but econo-size Cavalier.

The 2 cars are kinda close in size with the GTO being only minutely bigger.AS for the tail lights, they do look like they belong on a civic.

2005 Cavalier: 180.9" length, 68.7" width.

2005 GTO: 189.8" length, 72.5" width.

GTO is a 9 inches longer, and 4 inches wider.

Even I will say that is a significant difference.

As for the taillights belonging on a Civic... I guess that's a subjective styling thing if you feel that way...

My "RAM AIR" is functional

The GTO's are just for show. They don't actually do anything.

I don't know about you, but fake hood scoops that don't actually do anything is pretty ricey. Obviously you see nothing wrong with it.

Ps. Your the first person who's ever called my Firebird rice. Your definition of what is rice is clearly different from mine. If you think my car is rice, you've got issues J/K

Your formula came from the factory with fake reverse scoops.

93 to 97 Z28's had fake scoops.

All 3rd Gen Z28's and IROC's had fake louvered hoods and/or scoops.

1963 Corvettes had fake grates on the hood...

Are these cars, and many many more all "rice" too, since they fit your definition?

And, according to Pontiac, the scoops ARE functional. They just don't produce a Ram Air effect... but they do bring cooler air into the engine compartment.
