I am almost positive that will be a "Cobalt SS", just as the blue Malibu from the pics turned out to be the Malibu SS.
Look again at http://www.machined.net/~chris/whatisthat.jpg
The headlight on the cream sedan is the same projector cluster as seen in the sketch, but notice the tamer front fascia.
The side body crease is the same on the cream sedan as on the red coupe. Ted Krygier posted a good illustration of this on Cheers and Gears:

(Slightly annoying animated gif alert)

For a size comparison- here are some similar angled pics of the (Delta-based) Blue Quad-Coupe

this may be old news but look what i found in Motor trends vehicle forcast....
2005 Chevrolet Cobalt: Developed on the Delta platform, the new compact sedan and coupe differ enough from the Cavalier to warrant a name change. The car is expected to feature a wide, chrome grille like other recent Chevy models. Line will include base, LS, LT, and SS models, with top engine offering being a 200+ horsepower supercharged four-cylinder.
............200+...... thats as much or more than my V6

Is it possible the Cobalt will look better than the Camaro?
Yep seems very very likely that red mystery car and the car in foreground are the Cobalt. I'd still speculate that's the SS version in the sketch (expaining difference in fog light treatment of white car in picture's foreground). Should be a nice looking car, though maybe seems like front is too Malibu-esque. Of course, it could be a white Malibu in that picture instead.
I also thought there was going to be a 3door traditional hatchback variant of Cobalt. In fact, that's what I was thinking at first by looking at the sketch. Anyways, at least it's something new, different for GM, potentially exciting (200+hp s/c I4), and a coupe (<--also different for GM!). Pray the quality is better than Cavalier.
If Hyundai can turn out a looker in this category (Tiburon), why can't Chevy?

Besides its not like I'm ever going to be seeing then backend of a Cobalt, including the SS.... unless its just before I blow by one.

GM styling isn't bad, but I get the impression that they are not leading the target when it comes to breaking ground on style.
Just like the Mustang has done with engines vs. the F-body, some of these new designs seem to lag just enough.
In the recent Camaro news. While the design is nice, it does seem a bit 350Z'ish.
Remember when the Ford "New Edge" styling came out? That was something new and fresh and a little original. Personaly I liked the looks of the Cougar...it definitely set itself apart in that way if in no other.
