2004 Saturn Ion Red
2004 Saturn Ion Red
Hey guys, my names Eric, and althought i dont own an f-body..... yet, they have always been a passion and dream. right now i own a 92 celica ST 5spd. fun car to drive even though it has NO power, but its all that i could afford. ah well, onto the question
did Anyone see the 2004 Saturn Red Line in July's issue of motor trend? (pg 34)
some specs
2.0ltr ecotec
supercharged at 12 psi
estimated 200+ hp and 200+ lbft
brake and suspension upgrades and others..
it looks pretty cool. its supposed to compete with the srt-4, civic si, and focus SVT. i wonder if the cavilier will get the same engine? also, i would assume its gunna be FWD, but i wonder if GM would toy with an AWD setup? anyone hear anthing more on it?

Welcome to the site there new one (your 1st post here, I see).
Yep, we're all aware of the Saturn Ion Redline. I think the consensus ranges from "The Ion is still weird looking!" to "Why didn't they do that to the Cavalier?".
At the moment, of all FWD cars, I suspect the Mini Cooper and the Dodge SRT-4 are the favorites here, but remember, we're a bunch of guys (and gals) that favor very fast rear Drive V8s first, and very fast rear drive everything else second. Front wheel drives are a bit of a side show here, and not taken too seriously.... save perhaps the SRT-4. That might change once Redline's performance is known & it hit's the streets.

Oh Im well aware of this communities love for RWD v8's, Ive lurked for awhile before finally deciding to post. Although I own a FWD and posted about one, Im totally with you guys. A Z-28 or Trans Am will be my next purchase. I finally decided to ask the question about the Red Line, because most posts here are made by well informed and educated people (something that is sort of a rarity on the import boards Im afraid.)
Anyway, thanks for the welcome, and I'm not a stranger to Chevy V8's. my dad just recently sold his 6spd 96 corvette (with the LT4), the very few times i got to drive it, i was in heaven.
