2004 Grand Prix GXP Coming?
I'll just copy this from my site...
2004 Grand Prix GXP Picture....
2002 Grand Prix GXP SEMA Showcar Picture
As many of you know, GM has an online gallery where media can get pictures related to upcoming articles. An example of how this gallery is used would be how the day before Bob Lutz announced the 2004 GTO, pictures of past GTO logos showed up in the database. Tonight to my surprise the above picture showed up labeled as 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. This is a very curious development, as Pontiac's aspirations for a 285HP Grand Prix are well known. Also of coincidence, GM selected last year?s SEMA auto show to announce the debut of the Bonneville GXP, and this years show is but a month away. Also the car in the new picture is different than the car they showed at SEMA last year. The 2002 SEMA car did not have the marker lights, roof mounted antenna, and chromed grill that showed up on the new car. I also went back and referenced past pictures and they all referred to last years show car as the 2002 Grand Prix GXP, while the new car is listed as 2004 Grand Prix GXP.
The GXP is rumored to be powered by the potent 3800 Series IV supercharged V6 (as it is termed by GM), which has the design ability to make 300HP plus. This however, is unlikely as the limiting factor in the Grand Prix is it?s 4T65-E transmission that has trouble living above 260HP in it's current form. I would expect the GXP Grand Prix with a fortified transmission the likely offer at least 280HP, and possibly more. While it all may be some kind of fluke, I say looking at GM's track record with the photo database, I would expect some kind of announcement concerning the GXP in the next week or two.

This is no coincidence. When my dealership recieved the new manuals on the changes for the 2004MY Pontiacs, sure enough there was a GXP Grand Prix. But there is a catch, I found it in the space that should have occupied the GXP Bonneville instead! I showed the picture to our regional GM rep to seee if he knew anything. We both knew that this car was indeed unveiled at the dealer meeting in Las Vegas, so look towards a public release soon.

I really like the GXP cars, especially the Prix. So I decided to make my own:

I put on a 3.4 s/c pulley and K&N and am now about at the HP output being discussed... plus I put on a 17" version of the show car wheels. More pix at

GuionM stated that the new GP is on MidLux. Now the major reason why a high hp version of the L67 wasn't approved is that the 4t65eHD can't stand up to it. What if MidLux was designed so it could use the 4T80e? That would mean no more problems with the tranny giving up the ghost. Also we could see the Impala, when it gets its redesign, to get a small displacement LSx series motor. I tried to post this earlier but the board was down.
