Finally! Another poll!

I saw a black Monte Carlo SUPERCHARGED SS at the dealer the other day. I thought it looked pretty decent.

What could make it better?

Even though I'm not a big fan of the styling, I say give it the 6 speed and CompG upgrades. Thats the only way I can justify the price. Otherwise, bring the price down.

Even though the Monte has the torque, itd be hard for me to pass up a 6 speed V6 accord coupe for that price.

Unfortunately, i could only vote for one and so i voted for bringing the price down. But out of the poll, there's another thing i'd change as well. In addition to brining the price down a bit more, the CompG and 6spd manual should be offered as options (6spd at no extra cost).

I know. I personally wouldn't, since as a previous owner, i'm already sold on the accords. I've owned 2 v6 accords in the past (95 sedan and 99 coupe), and these cars are the epitome of value. Good build/quality/reliability, 240hp and available 6spd and sport tuned suspension which = decently good performance, and an excellent class-leading resale-value to boot... all at 26k for a loaded Ex minus navigation or 28k with navigation. For what it has to offer, it's hard to beat. If i didn't commit my funds to my new truck, i'd have a black Accord EX 6spd coupe in my garage today.

THe Monte SS should have got the s/c 3800 series II from day one.

Since it didn't and came late to the game, it should have got the 260HP 3.8L or 6 speed Manual

Chevy needs to make it's cars either stand out from the rest by offering more HP or a lower MSRP, at 240HP and almost $28K it dosn't excel at either. Don't get me wrong I think the supercharged MC is a good package, but it just seems to be a step behind the rest.

I voted to keep the price the same give it the CompG upgrades and 6 speed. But we all know GM won't put a stick behind the 3800 SC. The L67 rips apart most if not all stick shifts that get put behind it. They just don't have a viable stick for any FWD application unless it is an Ecotec.

I think the best and easiest thing they could do, which would lower the price at the same time, is to not force the Sport Appearance Package on you in the SuperCharged SS package.

The only thing that could make it better to me is if they made it not look like a mutant fish.

Yeah, I think you're right. They don't have a manual transaxle available that can hold that motor.

What a shame.

I personally think the Monte is so far off the mark that nothing short of a complete redesign can salvage it. But since we're not here to ponder that question right now, I'll say it needs new, sleeker sheetmetal and the 4.8 litre LS1 before I'd even think about looking at it. Slushbox is okay.

If the Monte was RWD I would probably consider it as a future car....but until then, I don't care if it is SC...its still FWD and not fun...

Thats the one car in the GM lineup that screams "I NEED RWD" to me (it auctually does, if you listen real hard when you pass one you'll hear it ). I really like the way the SS looks, IMO it has the same big muscle look the 80's ones did. Sooo I voted 6-speed + comp g.
