10-fire-sale-cars-to-steer-away-from
I am a huge bargin hunter and I been thinking about picking up one of these cancelled models. Back when GM killed Olds I got a steal on a Olds Intrigue GLS. At the time it was one of the best cars on the road, build quality and materials was the best that was coming out of GM and ahead of the imports at the time.
I've been eyeing the Pontiac G6 Convertible. I really like the hard-top design. I would have to go for one of the 09s with the updated styling on the front and rear clips. plus the updated GM radio is a real plus too. I just wish GM offered the GXP powertrain with the 3.6 and 6-speed auto in the hard top convertible. The only thing that could lure me away would be a excellent deal on a G8 GT.

According to that report I should be able to find '06 Azeras for $4000 in a year. A quick price check found one at just under 12K with high miles and the rest in the 15K range. I would pick one up in a second for 4K even though it is a boring car.
There are 2 best ways to judge a car's real value.
1. Selling price related to sticker.
2. Resale value.
What a car shares underneath is completely irrelevent. If that were the case, a G6 would be as good as an Opel Insignia. It's not even close.
I agree with their assesments because they give very good reasons, where if you think about it from the outside, are pretty much iron solid.
Most of their choices are at the end of thier life, or thier division is being killed off, or they were misguided in development, or they were or degenerated into nothing more than simple rental and fleet specials.
PT Cruiser has been around for 10 years with virtually no changes. The quality and interior materials were exceptional by 1999 standards (when it 1st came out). Today, levels of quality are much higher. PT is still stuck in the early decade both in style and in materials.
Grand Marquis and Town Cars have limited appeal and has also been around a decade without a restyling. At least Ford kept quality and materials up to date, and in some instances even moved it ahead of the norm today. But it still looks old.
G6 was the poster child of what went wrong and was wrong at Pontiac. Fleet sales, materials, lack of any real pulse quickening models until the very end (despite original plans to make G6 a great lineup)......Plus, Pontiac is dead.
Both the Vue and the 9-7x are from soon to be discontinued divisions. Poison to people about to make the biggest purchase they will ever make next to a home. Plus, the same vehicles can be had for less at Chevrolet (Equinox and Trailblazer) at less money.... plus Chevrolet isn't going anywhere.
The STS was meant to cross the gap between the CTS and the DTS. It didn't work. The DTS went to the "ride and comfort over handling and RWD" folks, while the CTS went to the "handling & RWD over ride and comfort" folks. Those in the middle simply kept buying Mercedes, Lexus, and Infinities.
Durango was "What were they thinking?" ugly. It was priced at "What were they thinking? prices. And sold accordingly. It got by as long as anything with a BOF construction and AWD sold in enough numbers to make even the lowest selling ones profitable. But when sales dropped, Durango was toast.
The Spectra and Azera aren't exactly going to earn it's owners any money in the Auto Trader, even next to their neighbor's Focus or Cobalt. There's a reason for that. People simply aren't buying them.

Very much agree with everything above![QUOTE=Jason E;6213331]The '08 re-designed nose for the Durango looked A LOT better than the '04-'07 nose. Many people forget, but back in '04 the Durango was rated #1 by C&D over the Tahoe, Sequoia and something else...

After being in/ out of them all, I think of the Durango's , the origional was the best. I cant count how many of the newer ons I have gotten into with broken plastic trim on the L side of the driver seat. The 4x4 system is inconvenient on most (no 4LO or 2wd provision). I always feel the Durango is playing catchup to the Tahoe and for that large SUV segment, the Tahoe is the leader as far as I'm concerned. The durango does benefit from more HP, but that is what the Yukon Denali is for if necessary.
