'06 Srt-4.
Yeah, that was my first thought, "Daytona" or "Laser," preferably Daytona. The "Shadow" was never a high performance model although a small two door from that time frame. OMNI, no ... althought that one model was a sleeper, GLH was it??
Maybe "Super Bee," it is a name associated with MOPAR performance, but could fit with a small performance car that'll end up sounding like a bee anyway. It's unlike some of the other names like Challenger, Duster, Cuda, or SuperBird that seem more fitting for a larger performance car.
"Conquest" or "Talon (from Eagle p-ship)" might fit as well. I really liked those 80's Starion/Conquests.

The EVO based Dodge coupe (assuming my info is correct)...is going to be one hot car. It will be blisteringly fast.
Personally, I give Dodge a free pass to name it whatever they see fit.....even if they want to use an old name from the muscle car era.
Ok, I know the arguments, it won't be RWD, V8, live rear axle, ,drum brakes, handle like a pig, spew emissions and get 10 mpg, blah, blah, blah..........so how can you use an old name?
I don't care...this car will be a rocket...and will probably be worthy of any name Dodge gives it.
BTW, I hope it's an old name.

from what everyone says, the srt-4 is sensitive to mods and has a tough bottom end. i get the feeling mitsubishi won't be able to replace that. seriously now, someone needs to buy dodge back from the germans, the damn company is a mut. you got american/german/japanese rolled into one taco. i guess you could call it a hyrbid company, but i rather the sound of all american

OK... you want 90's Chrysler? All American? At least with current german/american/japanese influence, they are building some real cars.
How about the Dodge Dart or Demon. The Dart was smaller yet a lot of them packed a serious punch. A 4-cylinder Challenger would be just as bad as a 4-cylinder Charger in my opinion. The original cars were just too symbolic of Mopar Muscle.

Just a side note:
If some of you have the impression that Mitsubishi is developing this new Lancer platform and Chrysler will simply use it....you would be wrong.
This new Lancer platform is being jointly developed by Mitsu and Chrysler...as are the new engines. Once all this "black metal" is engineered, Mitsubishi will develop the next EVO and Chrysler will develop the Dodge coupe. The engines will be manufactured in Michigan. Also, the Dodge version may get a larger displacement version of the new motor.

Man, I'm just having a hard time believing all of this. The thing is, the evo is not a car designed for the american market. In fact, the US is probably one of its smaller markets. This car is revered around the world. In fact, its looking like they are going to import less than 2,000 to the US this year. I can see the neon getting some tech from the Evo, but not the other way around. This car has a huge following around the word and quite a bit of heritage in rally racing. To say that American Dodge is going to take over the Evo and replace the engine, which will never go above 2.0liters, is a huge development and a big mistake IMO.
I can see the next neon and lancer sharing a platform, but the Evo is a whole different beast than the lancer in drivetrain and body structure. And don't forget, if the next SR-T is a 2 door Evo clone, its going to cost $30,000 which instantly kills alot of its current appeal.

here we go again... turning a camaro equivalent into a four banger, 4-door car

Id be ok with Duster though, since that name has already been disgraced:blah: ...it also fits better.
Dont get me wrong, id love to see a car like this... just dont give it the name of a car that is an equivalent to mustang or camaro.
OKAY OKAY...now think of this..
picture if you will...a red viper trolling the streets at night with alot of fog in the areas around the car...
then bam a black coupe comes darting around the corner. and a peek of it in the rear veiw mirror..You see the viper speed up and take a left. as you see the coupe take the same left. up a hill and to the right...same thing..you enter a parking garage and through the dome mirrors in the parking garage you see the black coupe dart in behind it. You see the Viper do a huge power slide on a rain soaked rooftop parking area...as you see it turning you see the black coupe come into full veiw doing a power slide around the ramp( like the Subbie WRX comercials)....
and it comes to a halt...
you see the front corner ofthe viper on the bottom right and you see the whole coupe now in the middle of the picture..and you hear the anouncer say...
"You play with Vipers your bound to get a little Venom!"
Introducing the 300HP AWD Dodge Venom!

I wouldn't be surprised if it's called Venom.
And, Chrysler isn't "taking over" the EVO...Mitsubishi is still running that program.
That's like saying Holden has taken over Opel, since the V-car was based on the Opel GM2800 platform.

The Neon replacement....as I mentioned... will probably still be available with a hot motor, FWD and low price....but won't be called SRT-4.
