05 Mustangs with colorful red and blue interior lights

well... i work in down town miami (florida) and i've always noticed that there are unmarked cop cars parked by the court house like the crown vics, taurus, and stratus. and i was also noticing a few 05 mustangs i saw there... but i didn't think anything of it... until saturday night. i was coming back from the beach and there was a really bad accident on the 836. the moment we passed the tow truck that was pulling a car out of the guard rail, i see an 05 mustang (v6) with the flashing low-profile red and blue lights inside the car. my jaw dropped... i can't believe the cops are riding around in unmarked 05 mustang's! i also noticed that the rest of the mustangs i saw in front of the court house were v6's, and upon a closer look of the interior, you can see a tag that says "city of miami police department" so that the car doesnt get towed away. i wouldnt be caught dead racing an 05 v6 stang... but i know a lot of ricers would. thought i should share that info with you guys since i havnt heard anyone else bring it up on the boards... and im sure miami isnt the only city doing it, just like florida isnt the only state that gives their state troupers ls1 z28's.

No, here in NC, they give their State Troopers modded Z28s ... most have SS spoilers around here. A few unmarked ones have body kits. I got passed by one while I was flooring it up to 70 like I was standing still . It isn't a good idea to speed on the highways around here...

Actually Hemi powered police spec Magnums will be out soon.

I can attest by personal experience that a stock LT1 F-body can not out accelerate Hemi Magnums starting at the 65-75 mph range upward.

Why waste the money on a V6? I thought the only reason cops bought car like that was for the V8?

yeah that does not make sense. Buy a car that stands out like the new mustang to blend in????
They have no value as unmarked cars, they have 2 doors and cant carry suspects, they dont have the power to be used in highway chases. Makes no sense at all.

So you guys think all the new Impalas that are used by State Troopers and local LEA's are V8's?!?!

We have a State Trooper in Yadkin County NC that is in a Jeep Cherokee (not a Grand Cherokee either). Oh you can outrun him on the highway, but not in the fields!!! You can't outrun the Motorola in either case.

As for the 05-V6 cop cars, the idea of an undercover unit is surprise, stealth, and "unsuspecting" circumstance... looks like they succeded if you ask me. You guys STILL don't think it makes sense... perfect camouflage IMO!

Yeah, there used to be a white unmarked C4 around here that would go around waiting for someone to challenge him to a race. No one ever suspected it.

around here they use unmarked imps so i could see the new mustang being used as a new popo mover. Nowa days every kid out there is going rice and im sure these 05 stangs can keep up with that.

The new mustang is drawing tons of attention. Why the hell would you use it as an unmarked car??? The impala does not grab peoples eyes like that.
