I dunno.. my first initial reaction to the front and back were, "BLEH!"

after clicking ont he pictures a few more times they are looking more acceptable in my mind.. but thats about it..

At least my eyes didn't just gloss over it (in boredom) when I first saw it though...

I think there were these vent looking thingies ont he sides.. are they functional?

Thumbs up

I like it a lot. Looks great to me. The rear looks fine to me - esp. the exahusts built into the rear valence (though I would be a bit worried about paint discolorization / damage). Also the round headlights. Taillights are fine too.

Thank god for round headlights - none of the weird lozenge shaped crap that seems to dominate every new car - esp. imports like the new 350Z.

As for retro - it may hint at that - but it's well done - none of the gross PT cruiser retro type junk.

From the side it does look like a 350Z, and the tail-lights look like the older 300zx, the front is good IMO, gives it that "muscle car" look.

I think for the most part the car looks great. I'm not sure about the tailights yet. 1st I thought it was reminiscent of the 68-70 Shelby until someone reminded us it looked like the 91 Capri and I thought and I lost my interest in it. Then this morning I woke up real early and saw CNBCs covereage of the show and saw some better pics of it and I pretty much forgot about the back and loved the rest of it. Sounds like Ford is going to build this car for 2005....but my heart is still with GM and getting rear wheel drive performance back to Chevrolet and the public.

Anyone take notice of the interior yet???

C'mon, the interior is like sitting in a soap box!!! Give me something remotely comfortable and ergonomic to drive!!!! How about a nice cockpit feel for a rocket of a car!! The look of a 60's mustang is fine, but don't put me back into a 60's interior!

Believe him. I think he may have heard that through his sources from people who have seen the production version in person. Quion seems to know allot about what's currently going on in the automotive world.

Here's what i've seen. It's a quote off "The Car Conncection" site. It pretty much says the same thing.

...How close are the show cars to what will actually hit the street in 2004? Close, but those who’ve seen the final designs say they’re actually more impressed with the production vehicles. The taillights, for one thing, will be more true to the original design...

It's a concept car. I doubt those racing seats and what appear to be a 4 or 5 point harness seatbelts, or the rear seat delete etc...would show up on a production version. Look for the interior to be alot tamer.

As for the whole car, i'm in love with it. The more i look at it, the more i like it. Even the vertible is growing on me already and the coupe looks about a hundred times better. That silver coupe/fastback looks very HOT.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the production version.

dont' get me wrong, I wouldn't mind having a 4pt harness attached to the car :-D But the whole interior IMO just isn't all that appealing or comfortable. To me it should be more sculpted, more ergonomical, especially the location of the shifter. I don't like to bend over to shift my car. Should I say... more of a feel the C5 has or the f-body, but on a higher quality standard.

I haven't paid much attention to the shifter location on the concept. The shifter is one of the big gripes people have with the current stangs and one that needs to be addressed on the upcoming mustang. I personally have no problem with the location. Maybe having an arm span of 73" helps. Infact, i could reach the radio controls as well. And this is with the seat almost all the way back. It may also have to do with the stang being the only manual car i've owned and driven on a daily basis.

I say wait for the production version. The interior may or may not change that much. We'll have to see.

Does anyone have info on when the production version will be shown?
