I dont know what everyone said I just read the first page..it says 279 REAR WHEEL HP dynoed...

a 1995 Camaro didnt have 275 HP to the rear wheels??? it came from the factory with 275???

whats everyone bugging for?

Thanks Bob, I was just going to say basically the same thing.

There were probably two trolls who said that. However, because they were Ford Mustang Fans (GASP........... who could possibly be that), they represent every person who has ever liked any Ford product.

That would be as bad as those of us who do like some Ford products thinking that Al represents all GM fans.

Frightening to say the least.

Oh caps, you have to understand that some comparing these numbers to LT1's are like older people talking about the "good ol days." In other words, they ALL dyno'd over 280, and ALL LS1's dyno over 300. What they were rated at is irrelevant.

Frankly, I thought that was a pretty good showing for an engine rated at 300hp and 320lb ft of torque.

I think its just the fact that Ford had the audacity to continue to produce the Mustang............ and a completely new one at that........... that really pisses off some of the GM faithful. Thus, to them, the glass will always be half empty.

I disagree infinitium. We could go on and on for decades about what GM did wrong with the Camaro that Ford did right with the Mustang. The only Ford did right with the Mustang was make it attractive to girls and sell it to fleets in absurd numbers. End all. The interior was every bit as much as crap as the Camaros. The back seats were inhabitable. It handled like my moms Taurus wagon. Blah, yada...don't give me that sh*t about what the Mustang did everything right while the Camaro didn't. The market shrank and the Camaro caught the bad end of the stick because teenage girls don't beg their daddy's to buy them a Z28, they want a Mustang because "their pretty."

How do any of us know about the kind of quality the new Mustang has? Yea, maybe it has a neato dash (BTW, ) and you can change the speedo lights. yayyy. What do we know that makes the Mustang > Camaro in quality? We will know about build quality in 5 or 6 years. As for the last Mustang having better build quality than the Camaro....Bwahahaha!

Hmmm.
He seems to forget the fact that MORE guys (100k+) bought Mustangs than did girls/guys both f-bods combined, or that the percentage of female to male ratio of both cars isn't that far apart. Oops, there goes the whole "only little girls bought mustangs" argument.

Change "they're pretty." to "they're cute" and you hit the nail on the head...kinda.

Your point is that the Mustang is every bit as ****ty as the Camaro was. Of course everyone else will take what you said literally -- word for word, and miss the whole point.

I believe GM had more to do with the Camaro dying than anything.

So you want me to go back over 2 years of posts to find a handful of quotes?
I know what I read cause it would be said over and over when the GTO came up. It always went something like this..

"The Mach 1 runs with teh LS1 fbody."
and next post
"The 05 Mustang GT will be faster then the Mach1"

No - I want you to back up your stupid statement. It shouldn't be hard, you seem to have it all figured out already. Click on that little "Search" button, then click on "Advanced Search", fill out a few key phrases in the block provided, search in this Forum (or hell, search em all), and find where "everyone" said that the 05 Mustang would be an LS1 beater. Surely if it were so common, there would be more than just a "handful of quotes", correct?

I don't think you know what you read at all. I think you know what you *wish* you read. Now prove it.

If there were a handfull of people "promising" that the Mustang would be faster than an LS1 F-body, what difference would it make to begin with? They were wrong, but to patronize the Mustang because of others' wishfull thinking is down right dumb.

I think some people are just so Pro-GM/ Anti-Ford that they blind themselves to whats really going on.

Another issue...
Wasnt there a ZL1 Camaro back in the day that put up 11's from the factory? One could argue that it took GM 30 years to come close to that again, and they still have yet to best it. Ford didnt want to beat your precious LS1 with the GT. If they would have wanted to, they would have.

I can recall several threads in the past concerning different power levels from the Camaro for different models...the V6, the mid V8, and the 375-400hp V8. Everyone thought it was a great idea for the Camaro.....why not the Mustang?

Actually, in some of the posts I have read on the future Camaro's hp levels, some are anticipating a 250hp V6, 400+hp V8 as the middle model, and much more for the top line model.

Frankly, I think that is some major wishful thinking. Who is going to offer 150hp more in their one up jump???

L.A. Z, I agree with you on pretty much everything you say. Its nice to see a realistic Camaro owner. (yes I realize there are many)

Wow! It's amazing how built up people are getting about this. I think their some nice dyno numbers, end of story. Personally, I like mustangs AND camaro's. The whole rivalry things gets outa hand some times. I think competition is fun but then there's a lot of haters out there for no reason. For example,saying things like "if has a blue oval I'll never own it" type stuff and that's pretty childish.
