John, like I said before, GM isn't going to dump aton of money into a car that will be totally redesighned the following year. If it comes out, it will look exactly like a GTO with a different nose, and slightly different rear.

The newCamaro hopes look worse every day. You have to lookat it from GM's standpoint. Why do they need to mae an affordable muscle car when they sell 25,000 v-8 models a year?? They just made that up with the GTO.

Also,GM's goal with a new Camaro would be to take sales away from the Mustang, and from the looks of the new Mustang, and all the positive feedback it has gotten across the board, If I were GM, I wouldn't introduce a new pony car anytime soon. Alot of execs put their asses on the line when introducing a new vehicle ( I bed C-6 desighners are saying their prayers) , and to go up against the redesighned Mustang right now would be a huge risk.GM blew the pony car war when tey killed the f-body instead of redoing it.

Me too. I love the 3rd gen Camaros sharp edges. To me, boxy = tough.

GN1270,

Yeah I definitely see where you're coming from but, GM better start coming up with something for the $20,000 performance car range, I don't think people who are buying Mustangs are gonna change their mind for a weezy Cavalier. Wonder if they thought of replacing that car with a new platform possibly coming out with something about that size with a nice 4 and a hi-po V6.
Doing a Monaro with different bumpers and wheels with 20 Chevelle and SS badges all over it just wouldn't cut it IMO. GM better get the ball rollin' in their lower priced performance vehicles or it's gonna be a long road to recovery in that category for em. Turbo Sunfires and Cavaliers aren't gonna hang.

At first glance, that Chevelle sketch was awesome. but look a little closer, and you can see they will NEVER built it to look like that, whether current-gen or 2006+. I mean come on, the thing has fin remnants on the tail!? .. It looks great to me but anyone seriously think GM has the ***** to do something like that today? Nope. The front end also has a refreshing amount of angularity to it, which is cool, but unfortunately it still has the stub-nose of any other new car today. whatever happened to building cars with headlights that face FORWARD ? all new cars have rounded off lamps that are like at a 30 degree slant, with a stubby grill that sticks out 2 foot longer. Even the 04 GTO suffers from it.

Overall a promising sketch, but I don't expect to see anything like that coming out a GM factory. I'll be emailing praises to HotRod though, if it'll do any good.

i dunno about those side bumps in the rear... also, the rear tires in the back shot look too skinny.. front brake calipers look puny.

I think the front looks good, but like what other people said, I'd like to see how the front would look if it wasn't angled..

Personally, I'd rather have a Camaro, or some low-mid $20k RWD V8 coupe.

I know you all have been waiting for my opinion on this so here it goes.

We know we are not getting a Camaro until about 06/07. Right now Chevy has nothing to offer in the musclecar market. (which is ridiculous) So for a few years a Chevelle based on how the GTO is being done could be cool, but not exactly how the GTO is being done. I'd like to see it done in a sense like that concept, different panels, taillights, front bumper, hood and whatever else. Not a car with just a different front bumper and some emblems, as the GTO is. We deserve more, Chevrolet deserves more, and so does Pontiac. I still dislike having the car come from another country, but if theres no choice at the time what can you do?? The styling of that particular concept needs work as mentioned and it could be less retro while still having lots of cues. I'd keep it based off of the 70 also since it is the most popular and really the best looking Chevelle.
