05 Chevelle Concept in April '03 Hot Rod
Although I had a red '67 Chevelle, I always liked the 70-72 body style. This really is a sweet concept, and I'd imagine could be brought to the States much quicker than the GTO, as only body-style changes would be needed since Pontiac/Holden has already worked out any safety/emissions problems for the '04 model.
I'm guessing the folks that like the retro look of it are at least 30 years old, and the folks that want to see a more rounded-streamlined car are still in their 20's.
Heck, if we can't get a Gen-V Camaro until 2007, this would be a nice hold over until then, and I'm sure would get many of us from looking elsewhere. (i.e. Ford)

....goodie......another $38k++ diversion to the loss of the F-body.....
Oh well, if it's cheap to do and it sells for a whopping profit for GM, go for it........still wonder if a mid $20k V8 RWD Camaro is an impossible dream.......

Though the article falsely claims that Car & Driver was behind the GTO (Actually, it was C&D's Brock Yates' suggestion that created the Road Runner), there isn't one magazine concept or organized mail effort that I'm aware of that created a new car.
An organized effort saved the Fox Mustang in the late 80's, but a enthusiast magazine appealing to hard core car enthusiasts won't be very influencial to those that have to actually commit the money & take the gamble on a car like that. No matter how much I or anyone like it.

It looks good, but how much is GM going to invest in that Chevelle for 1 year. They might as well just wait for the totally redesighned american built 06 model.
Another thing, can someone please draw a concept that DOESN'T have 22" wheels??? Lets see wat it would look like with some regular 18" max wheels. Oh and how bout a pic of some with 15" wheels for real drag racers.

The next Chevelle....
Hey Guys,
Well, I think you guys are all right in saying that the next muscle car that should be churned outta the GM factories should be the next Camaro. GM really needs to address a lower priced muscle car right now for the masses because the GTO and Corvette are expensive. I hope they're not counting on the Cavalier to satisfy the younger enthusiasts because it's not happenin.
As far as a new Chevelle, I think it'd be great to see this marque return, but not as another front wheel drive badged up offering. I think Thoms rendition is ok, but it's too retro and the detailing looks like a monaro with a Chevelle bumper glued onto it. The styling isn't really blending, mostly in the back view. The Front view looks better. I think that cars are a lot cleaner now than that, even the retro ones. The Monaro platform to me would be the obvious choice. But GM would need to give the Chevelle more restyling over the top of the Monaro body than they did with the GTO. The styling of the 1970 Chevelle was very progressive for the times and menacing looking.
When I get a chance to get to finishing it, I have a concept rendering in the works for the Chevelle. I will post it when i get a chance. The sidework is getting heavy!! AAAAAHH! LOL
