I happen to love my 04 Grand Prix Comp G. I haven't had the shaky headlights and I'm impressed with the fit and finish of the car. I would say the chassis is stiffer than either my 94 or 98 Formulas prior to their subframe connectors. It handles extremely well. And with all its low-end torque it just busted my buddy in his new Maxima which has higher rated HP.

Branden,

Got news for ya...the '97-'03s headlights do that too My right side has done it since I bought it and the dealer has tightened it twice...still does it.

Personally, I prefer the older car, and not just because I own one. I ordered and sold several '04 models before leaving the dealership, and invited many of our '97-'01 owners in to have a look at the '04s when I first started getting them in. Leather owners loved the new leather, but cloth owners hated the new cloth. My mom bought both a '98 and '01 GT Sedan new and unfortunately dislikes the '04 very much. Her gripes mainly lie with the interior, as did many other previous gen owners. The gripes I heard the most were the hard upper dash surface looked cheaper than theirs, the cloth looked cheap, and why was there no cloth on the door panels save for a tiny bit on the upper vertical surface? Also, why does an idiot light on the dash stay on the whole time the fogs are on? Annoying...

Praise was given though for the big central speedo, fold down back seat, front seats with actual bolsters, wide opening rear doors and the new radio. Overall though, owners of the older gen seem to prefer the overall style of the old car. There is no doubt in my mind the newer car is better in many ways, but as someone else said above the new car does not generate the buzz the old one did...

Personally, I love my torquey 3800, smooth 4T65-E, and COUPE body. I have warmed to the new car more with time, and indeed there are more and more of them out there, which makes me very happy. But as a current Grand Prix and former '02 Grand Am GT owner, I'd prefer to trade back down to a new G6 over a new GP. Odd, considering the size and comfort of the GP is one of the things I like the most about my car...

Paddle shifters!! Just wish there was more then 4spds! Hopfuly with the new 6spd FWD trans coming, we will see more of that coming in to cars, but if the GP is going RWD eventualy, then why bother.

I'm was a fan of the 97-03 GP, but personally I think the 04 is a huge improvement in looks.

It's bold agressive, sleek all it needs is some nicer wheels, like this '04 with some Mille Miglia EVO5 wheels, hotness!!

Mmmm, black, sweet "family" car.

And it's a hit, sales are up 49% YTD from '03 to '04. Change is good.

Aye, but it's still not a manual...just an auto tranny w/ the manumatic paddles if I'm not mistaken...

I prefer the ol' clutch and stick.
