Torsen available on 97 non SS cars??

I know that the SS cars in 97 and ( I think) 96 could have a Torsen diff as an option. Was this available for non SS cars in 97?. Is it the same diff as used in 98 and up cars?? I need to know for the new Solo 1 car classification in Canada.

Even '98 Z28's, Formula's and T/A's had the Auburn. The Torsen did not become standard until '99. All '97's, except SLP built cars that ordered the optional HD Torsen, had the Auburn.

The good news is that I have heard "rumors" that the Auburn has been disconued from GM stock. So, if you can verify that the Torsen is the correct replacement part for your car, it is legal in stock

FWIW, I don't think the '96-97 SS Torsen is exactly the same unit as the '99+ OEM unit.
