Do a search, this gets discussed a lot. In short: if you are willing to roll the fender lip and do some pounding of the fender well, etc., you can go as wide as a 315 tire on a 17x11" rim. Jody Shapiro has a nice writeup of this on his web site at http://u2.netgate.net/~jshapiro/z28/315s/index.html and explains why a 50mm offset rim is best. I am using 285x17 tires on a 9" rim (9.5" is recommended) and they fit with no problems.

I put 8.5's on my 94 and it rubs in the front when i cut it almost all the way left and right. They are p235/45 ZR 17

BTW: 285's are on the back, I am using 275's on the front. I don't think 285's would fit on the front.

Rich,

I have heard plenty of people running 285's in the front. In fact I have read here how people are running 315's on the front with spacers.

94z4ME--do you mean 9.5? or some other number?

235's and 8's could give interference if the offset was too far off either way. Not all wheels with 5 on 4.75" bolt pattern are designed with best overall clearance in mind.
