Post problem with wilwoods...

I just put the wilwood 13" rotors and 6 piston on my 96 SS. I have bled the lines four times and still have a sponge pedal and lots of travel. The brakes work, but only when the pedal is about 2 " from the floor. ANy ideas? I have heard that I might need a larger capacity booster etc, but not sure. ANy info would be appreciated.
thanks

You need to bleed it some more very carefully.

I am not familiar with the 6 piston Wildwoods, but they may require too much fluid volume for your stock master cylinder, to provide the pedal feel you prefer.

I swapped to the Baer 13.15"x1.25" GT+ system, which uses Corvette C5 calipers and had no drop in brake pedal level.

may be a stupid replie, but i make sure you have them on the right side. when i did Ls1 brake a year ago i did just that. the bleeder needs to be on the top not the bottom. so i had to switch sides. just a thought, i dont know if yours can be installed wrong or not.

got it fixed

apparently the problem was bleeding the brakes. Unlike any cars I had bled before, the camaro has a ABS modual up under the hood near the brake res. Bleed these first (1 front, 1 rear) and then woprk aroung the car. Turned out great, and wow what a difference.
