Need help installing coilovers

I've e-mailed Sam Strano the question but figure maybe someone here might be able to answer sooner.

I've bought Koni SA's, and the coilover kit from Sam. I need to remove the coil perch to install the adjustable one. To do that the hat needs to come off. I've cut a large offset open end box wrench to fit the jamb nut, and use a regular wrench on the top rod. I've torqued on it reasonably hard but it won't budge.

Anything obvious i might be missing?

TIA

I used a hammer and punch.

Wouldn't recommend it, but it worked flawlessly.

WD-40/PB Blaster it. Hammer always works good for me with stuck on nuts.

Thanks ...torque + vibration (a little zap from an air hammer) ... plus realizing that we could clamp it on the hat did the trick.

I had the same problem last year with my Koni DAs!

For future reference, the Konis use red locktight thread sealant at that location. It requires heat to loosen the jam nut. If you had gently heated that location with a heat gun, it would have come off much more easily for you.

Otherwise, it is tough to hammer on the wrench at that location without nicking the hard chrome shaft, which then reduces the life of the seals.
