Helmet clearance

Just got my new Simpson helmet for my first road course track day later this month. I put it on and went out early this morning to try it out. My head was banging off the outside sill of the driver's side T-Top panel often--very annoying. Is there anything to do about this? Padding on the sill? Do mosts tracks let you run without the T-Tops in place, which would eliminate the problem? I do not have a roll bar in place.

Every track that I have been to (regardless of who runs the event) required the T-Tops to be installed when on the track.

I have not put padding on my t-top frame because it would further limit clearance. I've learned to live with it.

The guys I run with ask that you take them out, I suppose they may be OK with them locked - I have NEVER lost a T top or understood how others have them fly off spontaneously other than a poor seating job and/or weak lock system.

I only have about 2" clearance depending on seat position, with the T top in place, with the helmet I'd have to recline the chair which does not make for my favorite driving.

I have the same problem. That's why I don't like to drive with the top up. About all you can do is get used to it. Or run with a club that lets you remove the top.

A helmet support may help you, keep the movement down a little.
I have to remove my t-tops before going on track per rules. But after noticing how much higher the power seat sits, putting my head closer to outside.I will be removing the power seat outa the Z28 and replacing with the non-power seat outa the v6.It sits lower maybe 1.5"or so. If you want a helmet support or another racing supply place will carry them.

Do all non-power seats sit lower? I keep rubbing my headliner no matter what in my hardtop and I have a power seat in my '94. The headliner needs to be fixed but even then I still rub.
