Question Dry&Wet boil point?Brake Fluid

Anybody care to describe the two points wet, dry? What does it mean?I'm going to replace my dot 3 w/ dot 4 Valvoline synthetic. It has a dry boil point at 502F and 343F wet.
Will this be enough protection?
Any tips on the flushing out of the dot3,to get the 4 in?
I was thinking bulb syringe to get it out of res.then bleed all 4 calipers at **** till it runs clear new fluid, but this would leave a little(old dot 3) inside the caliper
Right?

In your example, that brake fluid will boil at 502 degrees if it's freshly changed ("dry"). Once a 1-2% of water gets into the fluid (it just happens over time), it's "wet" and will boil at 343.

Check out this site for other brake fluids and their boiling points.
http://personal.lig.bellsouth.net/li...cars/tech.html

I use the Ford HD. It is a Dot 3 fluid and has a 550 dry boling point. It is also very cheap compared to others.

Since I change my fluid prior to every event I have little concern for the wet boiling point.

Crystal clear Dave, Thanks I'll see how it goes with this fluid Maybe Bob.But I intend on flushing frequently,And the 400-500 range(consistantly)will keep me safe Right?or
I intended on Dot 5,but was informed I couldnt do it w/o brake rebuild.Manual says no Sylicone in fluids permitted for this Bosch system anyway.
Thanks for the replies T.

I first started using Ford HD cause it is so cheap, but it can't take the abuse of road racing. After a day at the track it would start to turn black. I have a tool for flushing out the brake system, so I do flush my brakes like crazy. With the Ford HD brake fluid, my brakes would get real mushy after a 15 or 20 minute track period. I switched to Motul 600 and my problems went away.
Just a side note, I do have brake ducts, and you should install them too, they make a big difference.

AZ94Form,What tool, and where? Please.I did want to do ducting after seeing this on others.Got up in ther did some poking around. Was going to use the 2 vents front&center on bumper. The hole inside(of vent) turns upward to give engine bay a little more air w/ a passage(I dont even think 3"ducting would fit)If I were to go straight to the rotors,Theres the sheet metal, foam inside bumper, bracketry.I put it off for fear of structural integrity of front end being compromised.
Some provin method for this ducting would be greatly appreciated, and I will check the site you mentioned for the parts that I was tring to figure out to use in the first place to get this done..Thanx

Cool

Hey #7!

Send me your e-mail address so I can send you pictures of my brake ducts and some other website links. In short, my brake duct system is pretty easy, I didn't go through the front bumper either.
