changing springs and shocks
changing springs and shocks
note for this add please bear with me and understand that "shocks" is used generically.
I just got a new set of kyb gas adjust shocks for my 96 ss. I also have a set of eibach pro kit springs. Sould I let someone else (spring shop) replace these and not have to worry about it, or attempt this on my own. My mechanical background is about standard, enough to allow me to change my heads and cam, but I am not sure if the additional tools required and the hassel are worth it. The only easy shock change that I can remember, was on a 75 k5 blazer. Somehow I think this will be different, but would apreciate your input. Pros, cons, and trix.
thanks

Well, I'm not sure how well that set of springs and shocks are matched... but as far as the install, it's a bit annoying, but not to difficult. Pulling the front assembly out and replacing it is the hardest part. The only fancy tools needed are the spring compressors, and lots of folks just take the two assemblies down to a local suspension shop and have them compress the springs and install the shocks on them. If have a brief install guide at http://www.go-fast.org/z28/shocks.html so you can get an idea of the process.
