Any mods out there for power steering?
looking to help my power stering pump out. It moans like a **** star and I have to change the fluid after every 15-20 min. run. I have tried all types of fluid and have had no luck. Is there a better aftermarket replacement that I can't find? Bigger pulley?
Please help, the wall is a cold place to be on race day!

Do a search for a TurnOne PS pump. That should help you out.
Also, have you also looked at www.frrax.com? That is a dedicated AutoX/RR site. You'd get a lot more info there.

I think there was a guy running a small cooler on one of the PS lines, probably the return line, to prevent fluid expansion and overflow as it heated up

The turnone pump is also slower than stock, and therefore generates less heat.. which may elimiate the need for a cooler..
Some argue that its not the heat that kills, but the cavitation (bubbles) that form in the fluid from the stock pump spinning so fast in sustained high rpms.

I am running a transmission cooler to cool the PS fluid. While the turn one pump is the ultimate solution, the cooler is doing its job so far. It cost ~$50 and I installed it in about an hour. Lemme know if you want pics.. I have some on my cardomain site.

Re: Any mods out there for power steering?
My cooler failed on mine and I didn't figure it out till I went through 2 replacement pumps. I bought a non cooler version of the upper raidiator hose and the turn one pump. I've had no problems since then. The pump gives the steering a slightly heavier feel at idle, but nothing to trip on. Also, it has a trick pulley that looks nice and allows you to remove the pump without removing the pulley.
Supposedly it gives you back some hp but even if it did, it's not enough to feel.
Keep in mind that the inline cooler radiator hose is going to run you about $45-50 plus the cost of the cooler, over $100 IIRC. You could still have a possible ps pump overheat situation too even after all this so you would be out another $140 for a rebuilt unit. Add it all up and the turn one pump isn't a bad deal at around $240, especially if you're going to be heavy into RR.
