4th gen vs. 3rd gen handling

Just wanted to hear some opinions from the 4th geners about why do you think the 3rd gen cars handle better then 4th gen cars. (ofcourse comparing things being equal such as same tire/wheel size, shocks, etc.) What did GM screw up on the 4th gens that they are now slower around the curves then the 3rd gens?

3rd gens are lighter, and a bit lower to the ground. They also have many more spring choices without going to a coil over. However other than that, I really dont know of anything very different. Since the 3rd gen car is a strut suspension up front, maybe they have a different steering rack setup?

I don't know specifically why, but my 88 IROC turned-in much better than my 98 Z28, stock for stock.

I have only owned one thirdgen, but it was a good one ('87 Formula 350 with the WS6 suspension). When I bought it in '00 it only had 42K miles on it. I also owned a '98 Z28 1LE at the same time. Though I still wonder how or why, the thirdgen had as much grip as the fourthgen and was easier to drive at the limit.

As a owner of both, stock for stock, I must say I like my thirdgen's handling better. And it's still pretty good 13 years later.

My 4th gen wasn't bad, and it's actually quite good now that I've lowered it, sfc, relocation brackets, lcas, and some other small things in the future. Huge difference.

3rd gens don't use rack and pinion steering.
