thats noe that sits on the radiator cover, and thats also what I thought yall meant you put inside an airbox, not the filter but the whole kit lol.

A kit like that is gonna cost you power, not make it. the lid with a CAI is the best way to go other than FI
I was thinking the same thing.

Ram air is fake imho. All it really does I feel is keep continues cold air flow in the intake.

Re: ws6 airbox alternative?

there is no Lid on an LT1 WS6. its actually one of the best setups you can have, the air goes directly in through the hood and right into the intake. its already pretty much ram air from the factory. CAI is good but i dont think it can compete with a WS6 airbox.

Re: ws6 airbox alternative?

The only thing I can suggest is to either completely remove the fins and add 2 bars like Injineer (sp) did; or trim out a bunch of the fins like I did.

The top of the airbox is what allows the gasket to seal the hood so the engine breathes outside air, not hot under-the-hood air.

As for the whole myth, or whatever thing; there maybe no such thing as RA, but the WS6 intake track is the least restrictive all all the ones available for the 4th Gens. Especially with a de-baffled hood, and de-finned airbox lid.

It can be shown that the "ram air" effect is real (and quite small) using the concept of "velocity head". If it wasn't, why would Pro Stock cars have a huge inlet scoop that has been wind tunnel tested for hours to get the maximum pressure boost available?

"gaudy"???? Different strokes for different folks....

Re: ws6 airbox alternative?

in winter time. there is an "imprint" of the airbox on the top of my hood where its all cold air and none of the engine heat melts the ice/snow.

about 10 minutes after i drove it home from buying it.hehe
