why don't you just have it done within the law like your supossed too? I mean tinting is legal, you just can't completly black it out. so just get the legal stuff and accept it.

The sides are pretty simple, the back will take TONS of practice to do satisfactoraly in 1 piece. I can do it OK myself, butI'd rather pay somebody else to do it because you get a lifetime warranty on the good stuff. (Llumar or Johnson)

The other guy said it pretty goos as far as to cut it out on the outside. All I have to add to it is to leave it about 1 cm long on the bottom, so you can tuck it into the rubber weatherstrip and it wont get caught on it when the window rolls down. And use a razor to trim it about 2 MM in from the edge of the glass once it's on the inside. This keeps the edges from peeling.

And buy the good TINT!!! Dont put that S$%T from the parts store on your car! It looks purple in no time, then gets air bubbles and peels off in the sun. Go to a shop that sells window tint, preferally llumar, they will probably sell you some for 2$ a foot. It costs 1$ a foot for them to buy it on a roll... if they tell you other wise they're lying.

i tired 5% and it kept wrinkiling around the sides
thats where the heat gun comes in handy. what you have to do is get the wrinkles all towards the top, and separate them so they are pretty thin (just not HUGE). when you apply heat, the tint will shrink up, and you will be able to squeegie out the water, then the wrinkle will be gone!!

but you are only supposed to heat in one direction... up and down (top of window to bottom, bottom to top) thats why you want to get the wrinkles towards the top so they are vertical. that way you can heat them the correct way!

hope this helps! let me know if you have any more questions. its kinda hard to explain!

And buy the good TINT!!!
andhe is def. right about that! the other stuff is CRAP!! if you get good film, ill will come out much nicer. when you are done you still might have water marks inside the tint... those are ok, and will evaporate once the sun hits them. and try not to use your window for 3 days.

Try to do it in a clean, windless environment, too. Any dust that gets caught in the tint will be there for keeps.
