Window Options.

Has anyone tinkered with the idea of replacing the power window motor with a nice, smooth, RELIABLE linear actuator? I've been toying with the idea for quite some time. I know the doors on 4th Gens are SMC and it would be quite tricky to mount on the door and regulator. I want to use the existing hardware. Just get rid of that motor.

Re: Window Options.

In our '95 Z28... we tell people the windows are "static," that they aren't meant to roll down... And then they mention the buttons to do so, and how they don't do anything... and they realize the motors are just completely burnt out..

By linear actuator, do you mean a power antenna motor? If so, I would be worried about the motor not being able to lift the weight. Those windows seem pretty darn heavy.

Oh wow, what are those normally for? Those might actually do the trick quite well. ESPECIALLY if they are able to survive more than a couple car washes (getting wet) without shorting out.

Just misc. things. You name it. Just finding where to mount it would be a pain in the butt. Still kinda pondering that. You'd need to wire a relay and switch. I wish I knew how long the lower regulator track is. The length of the actuator might be a little bit of a problem.
