window motor help

im trying to rebuild an 84 z28 and run into a problem. i am in the process of fixing the drivers side door but the window is down inside of the door and i cant get it up since the motor is broken and i need to get through the window to get the door fixed. anyways i bought a new window motor and the old one seems to be riveted on. has someone replaced their window motor? if so how did you get the old one out and the new one in? ive done a lot of research but cant seem to find out how so i thought i'd ask here. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Re: window motor help

to be honest, it sounds really drastic, but your best bet would be to carefully peel the outter skin of the door off the shell. Take it to a body shop and just ask them to glue it back on, they should do it for like maybe 60 or so? It will save you a LOT of hassle in the long run. I just worked on my driver side window, and if I would've known I could peel the outer skin off I would've in a heart beat. Btw, if you do peel it just a little, crazy glue holds it back together REALLY well!

Re: window motor help

Just take your door panel off and listen as you roll it up and down. I use silicon spray or wd40 anyway just spray it where you hear the sounds
