Where to get regular z28 style fiberglass hood?

I need to have the hood replaced on my '95 z28 as part of my recent accident repair and would like to go with a fiberglass hood. I don't really like the LT1 SS style hoods, so I started looking for a fiberglass stock replacement hood and all I can find is various ram-air hoods.

Do they even make a fiberglass bolt on stock replacement hood for these cars?

Just wondering why would you spend 350 on the aftermarket replacement (with most of the time fitting problem) when you can get the OEM one for about $100 shipped - even color match if youre lucky, from ether here or the ebay

Let me know if you decide to go steel. I just got the Ultra Z hood so my old one is available. I've already checked and shipping will run about $140. Add another $100 and it's yours.

Re: Where to get regular z28 style fiberglass hood?

Thanks anyway, but since insurance is paying for it, I would rather not go with a used hood. My car is mystic teal and I doubt I'd find an exact color match, plus labor to strip the hood and repaint it would jack the price up close to a new one anyways.

I decided to get a bran new steel hood so I dont have to worry about some fat dude sitting on it at the track and breaking it :P

Yep, it would need to be repainted. Probably not cost effective, but once the insurance company actually gives you the check, it's YOUR money to do with as you please. So, if you find it will be more economical to buy mine, holla.

I'd get the steel one just for the fact that if you get in another wreck, the steel one will actually protect the engine better. The only reason I'd get a fiberglass one is if I was a big time racer or there wasn't a steel version.

It appears the hood has been discontinued by GM, so I guess I'll have to get a fiberglass one

Have you tried calling SLP? (www.slpeng.com) They may have some leftovers in a back room from doing all those '96 and '97 SS conversions at their shop. You never know.
