Cool what is the cheapest way to get an ss hood???

I think i want to get an ss hood. but i dont want to spend 1000 on a suncoast. so, are there any junk yards where i can find an ss hood near detroit? or how much do they usually go for when theyre parted out? i want one, but im not going to spend too much...

Thats easy, try www.fiberglassfabricatorsinc.com
they have the SS hood for $399.. thats where I got mine. Pics in sig. I started a GP a while back and got a great deal on my hood... I think I got it for $410 and that included the price of shipping it to my house! Anyways. Thats a good place to get it...

I am going to go ahead and ask if the term "you get what you pay for" applies to ordering a new hood?.

I too really want to get an SS hood for my car. I have heard prices from $400-700. This is without shiping and without painting and installation. Painting would probably be an additional $300-400. So even with the cheapest hood, I am looking at $1000. Damnit.

Thats a lot of mony just for a new hood. However bad *** it may be.

Yes and no, just depends on where you buy. Surprisingly, I just got a 3 inch cowl from Fiberglass Fabricators for 425 shipped, and with the exception of a couple of very minor fitment adjustments that had to be made, it was definately a steal of a deal. RK or USBody on the other hand Ive heard are very shady. I would suggest FFI if you are looking for a new hood.

i got mine from ls1speed.com. With shipping and painting, it cost me $1200. But mine is functional where as the $399 Fabricators ones are not.

I bought the hood for looks only... since it is proven that the cold air inductions located near the wheel well provide better airflow than that of a functional SS hood. So Im happy with my non-functional hood and my K&N CAI

true, every bit helps, but mine whines more now with the cold air coming in. IF you're gonna show the car any, the scoop tracks look awesome. I just wanted mine to look like an SS in every way possible. I hope to ADD the FTRA sometime soon to get the best of both worlds, cold-air + ram air.

I wouldn't buy a cracked hood just to remove the scoop. I tihnk you're looking into more trouble and money than you hope for. If you're going for looks, look into teh Fiberglass Fabricators or Harwood. I believe harwood does one now for just a little more than the FF hoods.

Good luck!
