What can I do to "restore" my pcm?
What can I do to "restore" my pcm?
Hey guys,
After 12 years, my pcm is looking quite old. And right now, I'm cleaning up my engine bay before the next motor goes in. I've painted a couple of things and those have turned out great. So I was wondering, can I paint over my pcm or is there some other way to clean it up? Thanks guys.

mhm it can be polished but its a pita.. i half-way polished mine lazily while it was out for the m6 swap before i shipped it. really crappy job but looked better than before cause it took most of the age off lol. I think it could be painted pretty easily too, just go like ur painting any other metal. but be sure to cover the vents on (im gussing the knock module?)

If the idea of bending sheet metal puts you off, an alternative would be to buy a sheet of black plexiglass, cut the 5 sides of the cover out with a Dremel or radial arm saw, and epoxy them together. Then, paint it with this

Won't be quite as durable as a stainless cover, but a little easier to make. Oh yeah, and a nice finishing touch for a little project like this would be to set it off with one of Brent Franker's vinyl decals. Maybe something that says "LT1" or "Z-28."

Wait hold up a sec I almost forgot about something: Brent Franker sells chrome vinyl sheets. Maybe an even easier way to do this would be to just cut out the box panels from plexiglass, epoxy them together, and then use the mirrored vinyl with an X-acto knife and cut it out to cover the box. It would probably be alot easier if you just cut the vinyl to rough measurements and then when you stuck it on the cover you could trim the excess off as you go. You could probably do this project for about <$30.
