Unhappy What am i doing wrong?

Replacing my fog lights with some FF75. I got the old lights out and was test fitting everything. I was looking at where to drill the holes in the bracket to attach to the radiator support and looked at the actual bolt that would hold the light to the bracket and it looks like it will not fit.The steel doesn't sit far enough up to work. The light bolt will attach to the bracket from the top right???

Re: What am i doing wrong?

Do you mean the new bracket is too low below the opening? If it is, it can be bent up some to help raise the light in the opening. If that won't give enough height, any hardware store should have aluminium spacers in different thicknesses. Or stack washers between the flat steel bracket and the Hella light bracket to raise the light up.

My install was with FF50s and they are smaller than the FF75s and I did not need to bend the bracket at all. If you can, snap a digital pic of the new flat steel bracket mounted to the rad support w/o the light in there then one with the light just sitting on its bracket in there and e-mail me at kcphotographics@comcast.net

Re: What am i doing wrong?

I finally got it fixed. The problem was that when i mounted the bracket to the factory radiator support, the housing was too deep to get the bolt to fit onto the bracket. After much trial fitting i was able to fab a bracket that worked and there aren't moving. I just straight wired the wires to see how things looked.I am going to wire everything up tomorrow, got any suggestions on where to tap the wires to?Power, switch, etc? I believe you told me that i could just use the factory purple wires to turn things on,would i just splice both the left and right ones together? I got those Luks 100w from lightingrsearch.com and I can only say
WOW .It's like night and day between the factory lights and the FF75. It looks like my high and low beams are on. Lightingresearch.com was a very good company to deal with, fast shipping and even got a tracking number too.

Cool, glad you got them to fit. As far as the wiring, just run the nearest purple wire for the fogs to where you mount the new relay and hook this up to the relay instead of the switch wire in the wiring diagram. Then just cap the other wire and tie it up outta the way. Use 12awg wire between the batt. and relay and to the lights. Also make sure you upgrade the ground wires to 12awg. That should handle the 100 watters no prob. It wouldn't hurt to put a 20amp inline fuse between the batt. and relay, either.

Yes, it's designed to supply juice for the h7 55w bulb. 12awg will handle any bulb that'll fit in there if you want to try the 130w. Sure, it may be a little overkill but I prefer to err to that side than the 'maybe ok' side when it comes to upgrades.
