Tips on adjusting Firebird eyelid

Does anyone have any tips on adjusting the alignment of the "eyelid" on a Firebird 98-02. The alightment I am talking about is the gap between the hood at the light when closed. What does body shops do? I have had my car painted a few times, touched up here and there and I know at one point they took the lids off to paint them. Any suggestions will help, thanks!

If you open the headlight, and remove the plastic shroud around the headlights themselves, you will note that the metal "lid" (referred to by the assembly workers as an "eyelid" I am told) is secured to the headlight assembly by several screws. Loosen these, and you have a small amount of adjustability of the metal lid itself. If you need more adjustment, the entire assembly is bolted in place to the front sheetmetal. I never needed to touch those bolts, merely loosened the "eyelid" screws, adjusted the metal lid, and then retightened the screws. Very easy. Take your time, and close the headlight after making your adjustment, to see if it lines up nicely with the hood and the quarter panel.
