Re: Sneak peek

Yeah, it's the console lid and the window switch trim. That's why in one of the second batch of pictures I took a picture of the underside, I think it's one of the first or second pics in the second batch...

Edit: the http://meissenation.com/pictures/carbon%20009.jpg is the underside of the driver's switch

Sorry, I've never taken it off before, so I didn't know.

Re: Sneak peek

Well, it doesn't look bad, but I'm not sure that it was really an improvement. It's kind of like "it was charcoal before, and now it is charcoal, gray, and very shiny." It does look like you did a really good job with the stuff though. Have you done any fiberglass work in the past?

Re: Sneak peek

well see that's the thing, this is the before picture...
http://meissenation.com/pictures/5-3...maro%20012.jpg

The red paint on the console lid was getting rubbed out from my elbow being on it, so I needed something to improve this... the resin adds a lot of strength and durability to the lid, so now I won't have any problems (plus the lid was warping under the pressure of me leaning on it all the time...) The carbon fiber goes with the carbon fiber gauge overlay, as well as the carbon fiber accents that I have on the exterior of the car.

As for fiberglass work, I fiberglassed the custom 10.5" touchscreen's housing that you can see in the link at the beginning of this post, but this would be my second project.

Re: Sneak peek

Oh, it looks a lot better carbon fibered. I think you overdid the red interior a bit, so the carbon fiber console lid adds some balance to the interior. You know, your interior kind of reminds me of an RX-8's. I'll find a pic...

As for the fiberglassing, I was just curious because you did such a nice job doing the carbon fiber job, so I figured you had a little experience.

Here's a pic of the RX-8 interior, pic 1
pic 2
I think you should use it as inspiration. In my opinion, a polished aluminum shifter button and hand brake button would look nice in your car, and I really think you should repaint the air conditioner vents black (or at least the insides of them). Oh, and avoid chrome accents, don't get chrome door handles for the interior and don't make the steering wheel red like the RX-8 one.

Re: Sneak peek

Haha well if it was your car, you could do whatever you want to it, but I love my interior the way it is. I really liked the red console lid, but the soft plastic just wouldn't hold up to the pressure of my elbow leaning on it all the time.
