smaller tire size
smaller tire size
I dont mean those gay 10 inch lowrider wheels, Im just saying like stock size is like 25.6 or so go down to a high 24 or 25 even tire diameter, looks are the only thing that would bother me just wondering if anyone knows if it would look any different, my goal inst to lower the car with the smaller tire size just to get the lower profile look without going above a 17 inch wheel, I think 17's match the car better. A tires diameter drop that small wouldnt look funny would it?
Yes it would look funny. There would be a huge wheelwell gap. Try to imaging stretching a rubber band around your stock rims. That's what it would look like.
I know you said your only concern is looks but it would also have an adverse effect on acceleration, rpms, speedometer, tachometer, odometer. Not to mention your ABS.
My advice, keep the same or close to the same tire overall diameter (plus sizing) and lower the car with springs.

I'm not sure what casper is talking about, but going from a 55 series tire to a 50 or even 45 series tire will look just fine, even on the stock rims.
On 17's or 18's I would go with a 40 series tire, in order to save $ and ride quality, minimize wheelgap, and protect the lip of the wheels. AND YES, depending on how low profile you go, your speedometer, tachometer, odometer will no longer be accurate, but this is NOT as big a deal as some people make it out to be.
HOWEVER, this is not exactly worth it as simply a "appearance mod" in my opinion. I would NOT do this until you are scheduled to replace your tires.

I should have been more specific sorry, I have lowering springs and am going even lower. The tires im thinking of are only like .6 inches smaller in diameter and are I think 295/30/18 so I have a 1 inch drop now and im going to a 1.3 basically youll have to trust me on this but droping it another .3 inches and going with a tire .6 inches smaller, the gap in the fender well would look like a car that had a 1 inch drop. Im just wondering if the tires would look too small for the car like on a lowrider only not as extreme obviously but sometimes you can just tell its the wrong size, curious if a .6 inch smaller tire would do that.
Just to clarify, changing the tire diameter will not affect the tachometer, or the ABS.
The tires you are looking at will throw the speedo and odometer off by 2.6%. At a true 60mph, your speedo will read 61.5mph, when you drive 1000 miles, your odo will show 1026 miles. Easy to correct with a programmer. And a smaller tire will have the same effect as going to higher numerical gear ratio, so it isn't all bad....
