SLP H.O Ram Air Hood?

Does anyone have experience with this hood? Does anyone have this hood on there Trans Am? If so, how did it fit when first fitted/put on? Finally does anyone have pics when finished (on the car and painted)?

Fit is "decent"..... the only problem I have is it seems like it is maybe 1/8" to 1/4" too short..... leaving a larger gap than I would like between the bumper cover and the hood. Finish is smooth..... the body shop sanded and prepped it. Extremely smooth finish..... looks as good as the factory metal hood.

My bad..... I should have read your signature.....

But that doesn't mean I can't help you.....

SLP used the 1999 Trans Am that belonged to one of our Central Jersey Camaro/Firebird Owners club members to develop the prototype for the LS1 Ram Air HO hood. Her car is in the SLP ads, and has been displayed at the SLP events. They let her keep the hood when the development was done.

The fit and finish of the hood is as good as it gets. I have seen a couple of other examples with the hoods you buy from SLP (as opposed to the prototype) and they are just as good as the one they put on her T/A.

No.... that is not the owner in the second picture.

PS: The 1999 T/A M6 is for sale. It is in excellent condition. I can give anyone who is interested the info.

Yeah, I just put that hood on. Got her finished yesterday. Heard the fit wasn't that great, took 20 hours to do all the fitting, sanding, painting. It does look AWESOME now though. That's for sure. Pic of it are in the sig.

Thanks for the replies. The cars look great with this hood. Now i have one more question. In comparison, which is bigger, the SLP H.O or the WS6? From the looks of it the SLP doesn't seem to be as big/tall as the WS6? Is this the case, or is it camera angles?

The WS6 is taller, yes, plus has an airbox that sits up taller. The SLP H.O. is better IMO though because the nostrils themselves are much bigger.

Nate I agree totally about the nostrils being bigger and looks great. I just thought in the SLP Pics on their site it looked just as tall as the WS6. But i took another look at the pics of your car and I am still going with the SLP HO. I have the same car except mine is a 2000 as mentioned in sig. Thanks for the info and the car looks great.

The hood arrived before Christmas and i have been waiting to test fit it. Well, today the hood was test fitted and adjusted the fit was ok with little adjustments. I am predicting it'll be painted and all-set within a week or so. I will try to get pics.

One Question though. I should have asked earlier, Are the stock hood pistons ok for the fiberglass hood? Or are they too strong or maybe not strong enough (i know doesn't sound right)?

Also, RS DRagster did you cut out anything to make it a more direct functional ram air? there's a piece molded in the way of direct flow.

Thanks

Speedy, no, you don't need new struts, you reuse everything. As far as cutting the hood, I put some thought into it and decided not to. Afterall, it's a $700 hood, plus the added benefits aren't that great. Not to mention water can get in MUCH easier.
