Shaved Handles - Door Not Working

I shaved the handles on my 86 Camaro and installed the VPA kit off of Summit. We used stronger linkage than supplied, hid all the units under the console, and installed buttons on the console so I can use those and the remote. It was working before but now when I hit the button on the remote/console it doesnt do anything. The solonoid doesnt go off and I cant even open the door manually. The door is being shown as unlocked from the inside but it wont budge at all, no way to open it. Also I blew a fuse a while ago after I started having this problem so now my headunit wont turn on, interior lights wont come on, etc. I programmed the remote so when both buttons are pushed at the same times that the lights come on but this function isnt working either which could be because of the blown fuse but Idk Any ideas?

Re: Shaved Handles - Door Not Working

Reason I said that is that if you blew the fuse, there's an electrical problem. Start with the simple stuff, check connections and make sure there's no chance of shorting or anything like that, if you soldered check to make sure there's no cold joints that are creating high resistance spots and heating up the wires. My fog lights had some cheap connectors that were used, and they created a hot spot and literally melted right through the electrical tape and caused a short. It most likely is an electrical problem, especially since fuses don't just blow for no reason. Replace the fuse, see if that changes anything. If it does, then retrace what's going through that fuse, what connections, etc. When it's electrical, IMO atleast, it's an easier thing to fix because it's just a matter of tracing the wires and such.

quite possibly could have burned up the solenoids/actuators also-I have burned up tons of them over the years..Especially if they are not working that is a sign if all of your wiring/fuses are ok
