Re: Shaved doors

You need to weld a filler plate into the door handle opening. Then you can fill it in to smooth out the contours. As long as you keep the filler to a minimum, it won't crack.

Re: Shaved doors

You need to specify what kind of car you have, obvously welding on a 4th gen door isnt going to work.

Re: Shaved doors

The 4th gen door is not impossible to shave but very hard.My friend did his doors a few years ago (he has body and paint experiance) and they are starting to become visible. With all the work i did to my car i wanted the shaved look also but i didnt want a wavy door in the future so i passed on it.

Re: Shaved doors

I wouldn't recommend it-

This coming from someone who has had it done multiple times over with different ideas/materials by professional magazine producing shops. You WILL see it eventually no matter what you do-trust me.

I agree i couldnt find any way to prevent it either. Just keep the handles and larn to live with them.

Re: Shaved doors

The only solution I know of is to make new door skins, sans handles, pull off the old skins and handles, toss them, glue on the new ones and call it a day.
