don't do it...

The fiberglass doors and the stuff used NO MATTER WHAT IT IS always expands and contracts at different rates. I have never seen one not show some evidence of the door handles moving like waves or the box itself. Not to mention these doors get stress cracks very easily. Take this from someone who knows first hand.

CamaroCasanova- So im fighting a loosing battle here?
I want them so bad. I already filled in the camaro lettering 3yrs ago when i still worked in a bodyshop. Just like the smooth look so much.

So you would recommend not doing it huh?

When I did mine, we shaved the whole car-everything, the camaro lettering, all locks, door handles, antenna, emblems, the pushed in hood emblem, etc.

Everything turned out perfect except the doors-in fact the driver door we even replaced it with another door we had let sit after shaving so it could breathe. I have never seen one done that did not move and at times look like crap. The shop that did the work on my car is top notch magazine quality stuff. It even got to the point that it was like a personal vendetta for the owner to get it right. He came close. The suicide doors they did later on it were awesome though.

Ya i pretty much want to shave everything too. I even want the side marker lights gone on the back bumper. Hate the antenna, dont like the emblem on the nose of the car either.
Did you spray the whole car when you shaved everthing?

Yes we even shaved those side markers, and the license plate box.

Yes we re-sprayed the whole car.

Here is a thread with some pics if you are interested in seeing some of the modifications.

+1

Been there and done that. Went through 3 sets of door panels. I could keep the trim groove from cracking but the handles just never held. I tried the 3 top leading products for SMC fiberglass and none of it worked.

I am now on door set #4 and they are not and never will be shaved the only thing shaved on them is the molding groove.

Only the handles & hood stripe were photo shopped. The rest is all legit.
