Removing speaker mesh felt

I am currently painting my interior and I'm having trouble removing the felt mesh on the inside of the speaker grill. I've gotten quite a bit of it off, they used so much damn glue on the felt. What can I use to get this off without damaging the grill?

I'm doing the same thing, and through 4 grilles, I haven't found a magic bullet. I've tried different solvents, but nothing too harsh either. I think scraping might be the only good solution.

submerse it in some hot water, and scrape underwater...that got a good chunk of it out for me.

You can probably pick up something very similar at any fabric store.

I bought some of that speaker mesh awhile back on ebay, it was pretty cheap and worked great, came in a roll and I just cut out what I needed. I removed my old stuff with a dremel as well.
