Removing Rear Belts

Removing Rear Belts

I have a 1995 LT1 and i am trying to remove the rear belts....they have those allen/star heads and i went at em best i could with the ratchet but i can't seem to budge em.....how did u guys do it who have removed them????

I hit mine with a hammer a few times and it seemed to loosen them enough for me to turn them. Otherwise, try hitting them with some PB blaster. Kinda messy but it should work.

i hit them with PB Blaster at least a dozen times.....then i went at it....i think i might of stripped the head tho....time to go with the hammer to it lol and then if no luck....cut those basterds off lol

I used a cheater pipe. If i remeber correctly they have some kind of sealant/sticky **** on the threads. I thought i was going to twist the torx off.

an afternoon and sum visegrips works too... thats the only way i got mine out...

damb torque rachet kept strippin the threads on the bolt

yea i noticed that... wtf is a cheater pipe? lol

i am having the same problem
A cheater pipe is basically a length of pipe that your slip over your ratchet to give yourself more leverage when trying to budge a cumbersome bolt.
