Removed Side Molding

Ok, I decided to remove the side molding on my car because I've seen T/As with it done and it turns out nice and clean. I just finished the drivers side but there is so much residue left on the car and I can't find a good way to get it all off. Another problem I have is that in some areas where the molding was the paint is dull and it doesn't match the rest of the car and you can tell it was there. Is there anything I can use to lighten these areas up? How can I remove the rest of the residue?

If you haven't already done the passenger side - just as a note, use a hair dryer to heat it up, it will help.

Then for the residue - just use some WD40 and a terry cloth or other non-marking towel.

You should be able to use some cleaner polish on the spots that are dulled out, and then wax back over it and you should be good.

Re: Removed Side Molding

Yea I used a hairdryer on the drivers side but there was still residue left but I eventually got it all, just needed HARD rubbing with WD-40. As for the dull spot I'll have to try clear polish, even recommended brands? If that doesn't work what should I try? I don't want to have to repaint the area. Also, I don't think its a big deal but where the molding was a very litte amount of clear coat chipped off.
