Question about T/A foglight locations

Question about T/A foglight locations
Pertaining to 98-02 Firebirds. I was wondering why on some cars the foglights are towards the center on the front bumper (by the license plate) and on others, they are pushed back, further, towards the wheels. Does the center mounted ones signify a certain model? Just wondering... Thanks!
