Exclamation Please help: racing stripe removal questions

I have a black 1997 camaro with red stripes and I desperately want to get rid of them. They look horrible on the car. They have been on the car for about a year and a half, so I am very worried that if I remove them their will be sun damage or traces of the stripes left on the paint of the car. What do you guys think? I don't want to be worse off than I already am. Please help!

Thanks,

Here is a before and after shot of the car:

your link doesn't work, and from what I've heard you'd be worse off with them off because of faded paint

should be ok

A year and a half is not that bad for having stripes on, as long as you've waxed the car once in a while and taken decent care of the paint. I just took the side mouldings off of my 5 year old car, and there is NO visible difference in the paint color. And for the record, I only wax the car like every other month, hardly at all in the winter time. Hope this helps!
