painting rims question????

I have heard people (when they are buying new rims), say that it doesnt matter what finish is on them because they will refinish it. Could someone possibly tell me how to do this. I want to paint some SS rims white. thanks

That only applies to powdercoating.

Not regular painting.

I highly recommend you get them powdercoated... what color is your car ?

How long ago did you do this? Have they chipped yet? Do you drive with them in the winter? I am sure the MI winters would do a number on painted wheels.

well what i would like to do is find some gray ss rims and paint them white........(i.e. -- like the 30th anniversary rims)......thats what i was wanting to do. I cant find anyone selling a pair of them.....do you know where i can find some.........the reason i was asking about painting is because i thought it would be cheaper than buying a new set

thanks Scott

Hehe, its been done before, And actually I have them on my car now, 17x9(shrunk to 17x7) and 17x11 in the rear,

Painted white, look good. will have pics in a few days. The wheels look good, got them painted already.

I have 2 17x9 originals if you want, white already.

There is a very well known place by me that does a great job of powder coating rims and other misc parts, he does it for $25 a rim, powdercoating will last alot longer then paint.

i don't drive in the winter or rain....

my wheel have been paint for a couple months. they have been in my basement, but i like them alot.

if you prep them right and take car of them, they will last a good while. i have the luxuary of a couple sets of rims so they don't wear much.
