Painting Brake Calipers?
I want to paint the calipers on my T/A to go along with my new rotors. Is there any prep work I should do before I paint them, and what type of paint should I use? I want to paint them red.
Re: Painting Brake Calipers?
Theres not much prep work involved. Just make sure you clean the area well with brake cleaner. If you buy a Caliper painting kit, they usually come with their own cleaner, use that if you buy the kit. You can go to almost any parts store, and they should have caliper paint. Ive also seen kits. As long as the paint is high temp, you should be good, but im not 100% sure.
Re: Painting Brake Calipers?
Don't use engine paint, I tried that and it doesn't look that good. Wal-mart just started carrying a Duplicolor brake caliper paint kit for $15 that includes everything you need including ceramic paint. I just bought this kit and will be redoing mine in the next week or so.

Re: Painting Brake Calipers?
I don't mean to jack the thread, but does everyone here paint their calipers with them still attached to the car? I saw Brent did, and I'm wondering how hard it is to remove them, then paint them. Thanks, and sorry for any semi-thread-jacking...
Re: Painting Brake Calipers?
You would actually recieve the best results if the calipers were removed, thoroughly cleaned and then painted, however you will need to bleed the brakes when done.
As long as you clean the calipers real good and bag off the car, you will be just fine.
