Painted Calipers

Hey,

What do you guys recommend as far as painted calipers go? The guys that put my wheels on through a quick splash of red "caliper" paint all over them (didn't disassemble them or mask anything off, just sprayed). There's some runniness and some spots missed. Is it best I just go over it with 3-4 layers of paint. Or sandblast the paint and stuff off, put some primer on, then paint?

I want to get the "cherry red" finish my car already is. Doesn't have to be too flashy, but a pure red none the less.

Thanks,
Kevin

i used engine enamal. i took almost all of it apart and taped off the rest. i sprayed it let it dry drove it for about a week. wet sanded it then sprayed on a few more layers just to even it out and get the spots i missed. the paint will withstand 500 degrees and it doesn't look bad at all

Probably not the most fun taking it apart? How's the engine enamal finish? Does it look pretty clean, a pure color?

I used enamel and high temp clear coats. The prep work is very important. Also the time between coats.

Lots of Pics in sig. (Page 2)

the finish is pretty good not the greatest cause i didn't use any clear coat but it is just your brakes mine get covered with so much dust that i have to clean them at least twice a week. but yes the finish is good. i used the same paint ( for matching issues) on my side molding strip and soon to be on my trans am word. it doesn't look bad at all i will try to get some pics soon

hey man i did them this summer
buy some brake caliper/engine spray paint and some clear coat, i just masked the area around the calipers and sprayed and make sure you have a paint brush to get the hard to reach areas. no need to take them apart
i put 4 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear, and you cant do this w/o the brake caliper declas from after thoughs auto, they really set them off there like $20
everyone asks if i have aftermarket brakes, they look awsome
ill try to get some pics
