Overlaysfrom Dynoproauto

Hey guys,
I'm thinking about getting some silver gauge overlays from them. Does anyone have them and how long did it take to get them? Or if you have purchased anything from them, how was the shipping time? I was looking at macewen, but from what I have read, there customer service is lacking. Thanks

Dynopro is really expensive considering all they do is take Macewen overlays and slap a vinyl decal on them. Since you're having a lot of questions on gauges/overlays go to the appearance section of LS1tech.com and do a search you'll find a lot more answers. The appearance section on this forum is kind of dead. Also they have a group purchase going on over at LS1tech.com through the WS6store. They all sell the same crappy Macewen overlays.

The "Crappy" macewens happen to be one of the best overlays available for our cars. Now the service the Macewen provides can be considered "crappy" by some people, but not the overlays by ANY means.

Yeah the overlays are crappy. I've owned them and they're junk for what you get. You can get 10x the product from NRauto and for less money than the Macewens. Macewens don't line up that great, blur the light coming through and slip when they get hot in the summer time (IMHO). My buddy hated his as well, and drools over my NR's gauge face. I didn't thinky they were worth the money at all. Macewens maybe the best overlay available but that doesn't make them a great product.

Josh,

Thank you for the feedback.

If you guys have any issues, please bring them to my attention at rmacewen1@yahoo.com.

There has been a few changes to my contact information. We moved to TN in July '06, and back to NY in Dec '06. People we hired to update our website in the Nashville area, won me over and vowed they knew how to work in the RTML language that our Yahoo site runs on. They failed completely to do this. I had to do it myself.

The email address of rmacewen1@aol.com is no longer, or rather should no longer be used. It has just become a 100% spam container, since that address is 10 years old, and has a lot of circulation.

I have noticed a lot of chatter about overlays 'slipping', and this may indeed be an 'old' problem of an 'old' design. The 1993-1996 Camaro kits used adhesive pull tabs for the ultimate in ease of application. We have changed that design. The 1997-2002 Camaro overlay design is completly different that previous model years. The +97up overlays still use a repositionable adhesive from 3M which can not 'slip' given that the overlay/face the entire back surface area has it.

Our product is also nothing like some inkjet or signshop vinyl kits you will find on ebay as well.

Many are also confusing the two products. I did not design these kits so people can butcher their instruments. I designed every kit to install easily, and preserve the original cluster, it's calibration, and it's illumination quality. Our original 3rd generation Firebird overlays use no adhesive whatsoever since they can be retained by the factory screw positions.

Deplhi has a diffusion pattern containg transluscent black and frosted white matrix paterns to evenly distribute light. These patterns are only black in guage replacements, so hot spots can and do occur. There is a up side, and a downside to every design. Our downside in terms of design is that since we took the stance of non-replacement, some people feel they are getting 'more' because they bought an 'entire replacement face'. Our overlay will dim the factory illumination on the cluster overall, since we do need to utilize some tinting. However, the illumination is still as evenly distributed as OEM, and options of brighter, and in case of 94-02 Camaros, different illumination colors can be acheived by changing the bulb color.

Well ours is different for too many reasons to list here. We took the hard road. There are so many variations between model years and 'major divisions' in tick marks, it is all too easy to make one face that 'fits', and claim fitment. However, function and accuracy is a different target all together. We did this while still having the product look like it could have been a production piece. There is no mistaking the rice factor in the nuimage ones. It's matches nothing on the Camaro.

We could easily produce what nr does, but we like F-bodies. Ripping of the factory face, and being left with recalibration problems, is just ... well, not the best way to go. What if stock is more desirable at time of resale? What if you truly like your car as is, but just would like to add a focal point, in under 30mins? There is a huge reason we DO NOT make what nuimage, nr, and apc does. Also, you will not see overstock of our product on ebay for $20. I never liked that concept, and I created my own.

We have been in contact with many customers who had difficulty contacting me since my move. I had hoped all was resolved.

If you have an outstanding issue, please email me, or call 615-557-5015.

-Ryan

The slipping issue you mention happened to me and i had TA overlays in my TA cluster, my buddy had the same thing with his 97+ Camaro so it seems like all your products are vulnerable to this. The calibration isn't really a large issue as the factory gauges are inaccurate as they are. Also replacement of the factory gauge face is as simple as removing the Nr and replacing it with the original. It would be great if you produced something that looked like the original 97+ Camaros had and not like TA's. Even if you did have such a product there is problem of trying to get anything we order from you. I've also seen you sell overstock of yours on Ebay for discounted prices so you've got that going for you as well.
