I can't wait to finally get her finished...well at least running ha ha as there are several winter projects in store for her as well prior to dyno tuning in the spring. Closing on a house Friday and will finally have that much needed garage once again. So hopefully soon will have a final update that she is purring once again!

Re: My 97 Z4C project...A Work in Progress

I love what you are doing man, the car is going to be sick when you get done. I enjoy seeing big projects like this. I did the same but did a 396 stroker. Now im working my Ls car...putting a procharged 427 ls7 in that, along with a crap load of other goodies, then converting the nose to a Lt1 ss nose. I'll be sure to watch this thread.

Re: My 97 Z4C project...A Work in Progress

No updates at the moment other than she is residing in house just bought. So until I get everything moved in and organized won't get much done. I hope to have her fired up by end of February. I hope all this hard work is worth it in the end. Long range goals down the road is repaint entire car and paint stripes on versus decals, and stroke it out to a 383 ;-)

Re: My 97 Z4C project...A Work in Progress

Well still in the process of trying to get house ready to move in, hardwood floors, tiles, completely repainted already, so move will actually take place in April. I do have car in garage and have since we got the house, so, that will allow me to soon finish her up to fire her up. Looks like I am going to drop fuel tank to drain old fuel out...i'll burn it in my Furd 250 lol! Don't wanna take a chance with old fuel and such in new lines, and fuel injectors being cleaned & flow matched. I ordered a rear CME from 6LE, the OEM style center mount exhaust tips polished, and the McNord blended rear bumper cover. Going to order a Spohn adjustable chrome moly mid-length torque arm, bracket with driveshaft loop, chrome moly shock tower brace, rear sway bar installation kit for the 12 bolt (doing it the right way). And some new hardware kits for existing suspension pieces as well. A set of Bilstein (SLP valved) shocks on all four corners. Gonna look at springs after I get her back together to see how she sits in the 17" wheels/Nittos. So, basically not much to get her running just need time as I have all I need to complete that task! The rest is all winter projects to ALL be completed by mid may so I can take her to have her dyno tuned. This doesn't include new carpet, and putting the interior all back together, including having the new custom leather seat covers installed! Stay tuned ;-)

Pic of the leather seat covers $1200 for these and a matching deck mat...had to have them!

Re: My 97 Z4C project...A Work in Progress

No I haven't fell off the face of the earth lol. Move finally done. Back to working on car again. Still haven't got it started yet! I pulled rear end & fuel tank eventually removed everything under car to completely sand primer paint underbody. Have some new suspension parts to boot! Will post pics soon. Glad I decided to pull tank cause evap lines dry rotted and finish fuel pump access mod. Pulled tank as I didn't wanna take chance with dirty fuel in new lines injectors and such. So underbody will look as good as rest of the car when I am done...if I am ever done!

Re: My 97 Z4C project...A Work in Progress

here's the question of the day.... 1. is that an LT-4 intake, or a spray painted LT-1? just curious. (i haven't read the thread to know for sure) and 2. is there anyone in the entire world that tunes LT-1's still? There seems to be a huge HUGE lack of LT-1 tuners in Texas. I have a 91RS i swapped an LT-1 into , and can't find anyone locally to tune it, and, i don't trust sending my ecu to someone in another state to tune a car they can't touch... too many horror stories about that.

The project looks great though! or, well, it did several months ago haha. wonder what it looks like now

No that IS an LT1 intake powdercoated orange. Cincy Speed here in Ohio dyno tunes them still...luckily I am only about an hour and a half away ;-). PCM for Less used to do mail order tunes and they were gonna dyno tune mine when I got done with it however their lack of communication killed that from happening.

Thanks on the project! I am slow but sure and the further I went into it the more in depth I went as well...that's why it isn't running...yet!

Re: My 97 Z4C project...A Work in Progress

Just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words and appreciation, and encouragement from you all! This IS an addiction and along with my OCD I can't help but go all the way with it. Will post some pics soon. It's killing me now that we have good weather but it will be worth it all in the end!

Re: My 97 Z4C project...A Work in Progress

Figured I would take the time to give an update of my SLOW progress! Between getting settled into our new home, trying to take care of my family, and work, I have not got a lot done. I hope to be able to go ***** to the wall this month, but already 13 days gone, time will tell but I am finally done with most of the work around the house so here we go.

I was "only" going to drop the fuel tank to get remainder of old fuel out as I didn't want bad fuel or junk getting into new fuel lines, cleaned & bench flowed injectors! Little did I know my OCD and rust would cause me to completely want to redo the underneath in it's entirety! Besides some sanding on underneath of car have been battling for literally weeks on front lower A arms and getting rear rusted bolts out! Finally got drivers side and still working on pass side. What a royal pain in the A$$! Got a poly kit for front end a arms. It will be worth it but damn I sure dont wanna screw with this again...damn! More to come hope fully soon!

Dropped rear end and left driveshaft attached as no leaking seals and the 1350 U joints are perfect so why mess with it, and I can isntall just as easy with it attached. Completely sanded and Coated with POR-15...

New GM front bumper cover. Old one was busted up underneath and stripes pealing. Decided gonna completely apply new stripes across car as they are flaking bad here and there...
