More trunk space from removing the spare tire?
More trunk space from removing the spare tire?
Ive been tossing this idea around for a few days, if i should take out my spare tire and make a storage compartment out of the emptey space. I had some time so i removed the spare tire to have a look and its a decent size space to use. I could make a pannel for the part near the fender (did a quick mock up with cardboard in the pictures) and carpet everything so it looks factory.

I could fit some detailing supplies in there, my school binder, and onther misc stuff could be put in there when i put the top down. And maby in the distant future i could fit a bottle or two of nitrous in there
So has anyone done this and has pictures of how it turned out?

Re: More trunk space from removing the spare tire?
Seems like alot of work just to store a few things. Just leave the factory trim panel as is, pitch the spare tire and jack, and place an order with NX Express or equivalent. Nobody will know.

I use mine for my nitrous bottle. Yeah it's roomy. I say if you want a hidden "storage area" why not just clean up the inside then use the factory cover instead of making your own.
Good idea.
